Here’s where you chime in! We’re looking for comments! We want to know what you think of this Kickstarter campaign so far, and what you’d like to see offered.
Or — if you’re afraid your opinion will offend — I’ve set up an anonymous questionairre.
Since launching our Kickstarter campaign on Tuesday afternoon, we’ve got a good start on reaching our goal. While we’re certainly no Order of the Stick, we’re on our way. Thank you so very much to those that have backed — you’re excellent!
Now, we still have a long way to go and we’ll need all of your help to get the word out. We understand that for a comics Kickstarter, it’s pretty different from what you’re used to seeing. No, we’re not trying to get a graphic novel printed BUT we have our graphic novel available as donation swag for those of you interested in print. These are printed and in hand.
In fact, we have a ton of very cool stuff lined up as “goal busting” incentives to reward folks who’ve backed us, including exclusive stories in PDF format such as the first Rennie & Winston story. (Yeah, we’re planning an all ages spinoff of Shadowbinders, featuring Rhen as a kid. Look for it — soon-ish.)
Some of our higher tiers are pretty cool, too. We’ve got Mia’s Ring, Rhen’s coat, the opportunity to be in Shadowbinders, the opportunity to have your own custom story or character created, and even an iPad bundle that includes a custom created character of your design imprinted on the case. I mean, seriously, there’s a lot going on! Please do check out the reward tiers — we’re offering so much more than the App itself.
Now about that App: It’s a good idea, and we’ll be giving you more details in the coming days including more gameplay footage, planned features, etc. To the best of our knowledge, nothing like this has been done before. We’re trying to cover some new ground here by merging digital comics and gameplay into one package. We could’ve played it safe… but that’s not how we roll.
Finally: Supporting this Kickstarter is supporting us. Really, we’re doing the App to try and think outside the box and generate a much-needed revenue stream for the comic. We’ve been giving this 110% for two years now and typically spend more than we make. As was mentioned before, just our hosting has jumped up to over $100 a month. We love giving you guys this stuff for free and will continue to do so as long as its financially viable for us to do so.
In the meantime, have some cheesecake. This is artwork for the Paper Doll incentive. We’ll ‘unlock’ Rhen once we hit 10% funding.
So please, please consider funding us this month. We’ll try to make it worth your while!
